The little licorice note is what sold me — it cuts through a heavy tomato sauce without taking over. I've been tossing a pinch into scrambled eggs too, and it's still plenty strong after a few weeks in the jar.

I stirred a spoonful into my tomato sauce and that mild, faintly sweet licorice hint came through without overpowering the tomatoes. Not the punchy kind of basil I've bought before, but for everyday cooking that gentle flavor is actually what I wanted.

The licorice note is exactly right—it's mild but definitely there, so a little goes a long way in salads and sauces. This batch arrived fragrant and fresh, and it held up beautifully in my tomato dish tonight.
