Margaret's Hope Estate, 2nd Flush (Darjeeling) comes from West Bengal, India. It is grown at such high altitudes and in relatively cool weather the bushes do not grow quickly, and as such the production is limited. The best time of the year for quality is during "second flush" (end May - end June). During this time Darjeelings are incomparable to any other tea in the world. Some would describe the taste as nutty; others find it reminds them of black currants, but most often it is described as similar to the taste and fragrance of muscat grapes.

Penelope V. ★★★★★

Steeped this at 195°F for three minutes and got a bright, fruity cup with almost no bitterness. You can really taste why those slow-growing high-altitude bushes from West Bengal produce such concentrated flavor. Already planning to reorder before this tin runs out.

Henry ★★★★★

Steeped this at 195°F for about three minutes and got a bright, muscatel cup with almost no bitterness. You can really taste why the slow growth at that altitude matters, the flavor is deeper than the first flush I usually drink. Already halfway through the tin.

Christopher ★★★★★

The dry leaves smell like dark honey and raisins before you even brew them. Letting it steep four minutes gives a deep amber cup with almost no astringency, which surprised me for a Darjeeling. It's become my slow Sunday morning pot.
